Kult-Tuner Sidney Hoffmann zu Dreharbeiten im Museum
Der Auto-Influencer, Moderator und Kult-Tuner Sidney Hoffmann („Die PS-Profis“) war zu Dreharbeiten im Nationalen Automuseum. Vom 17. bis 19. Oktober 2024 produzierte der Ex-Dortmunder und Neu-Ostfriese in der Loh Collection für sein neues YouTube-Format „Sidneys Autocheck und Ferry“. Nebenher gab er Museumsbesuchern Autogramme, erfüllte Fotowünsche und stand auch für das eine oder andere kleine Gespräch zu den Themen Autos und Tuning bereit. Sidney Hoffmann ist dem Nationalen Automuseum seit der Eröffnung freundschaftlich verbunden, unter anderem hat er der Loh Collection seinen RWB-Porsche „Furusato“ mit markantem Wide-Body-Kit als Leihgabe zur Verfügung gestellt. Das Tuning-Fahrzeug steht im öffentlichen Bereich des Museums und ist ohne Eintrittsgebühr zu bestaunen. Passende Modellautos und Poster gibt es im Museums-Shop.
Das Nationale Automuseum auf der Oslo Motor Show
Das Nationale Automuseum war mit zwei historischen Langstreckenrennwagen auf der Oslo Motor Show 2024 präsent. Am Start im Norges Varemesse - NOVA Spektrum waren ein Porsche 956 und ein Mercedes-Benz CLR aus dem Bestand der Loh Collection. Der ausgestellte Porsche 956 ist einer der erfolgreichsten Fahrzeuge der Baureihe überhaupt. Stefan Bellof gewann damit im Jahr 1984 die Langstreckenweltmeisterschaft und sicherte sich zugleich die Fahrerweltmeisterschaft. Der Mercedes-Benz CLR war der Hoffnungsträger der Marke bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans 1999. Nach mehreren spektakulären Unfällen der Schwesterfahrzeuge wurde der verbleibende Wagen vorsorglich aus dem Rennen genommen und fand später seinen Weg in das Automuseum. Die Oslo Motor Show findet jährlich statt. In diesem Jahr zählte sie knapp 57.000 Besucher, mehr als ein Prozent der norwegischen Bevölkerung. Ziel der Messe ist es, die spektakulärsten und interessantesten Autos, Custom Bikes und Trucks aus ganz Skandinavien zusammenzubringen, ergänzt durch Fahrzeughighlights aus ganz Europa.
Zweite Saison des Automuseums auf der Zielgeraden
Das Nationale Automuseum geht für 2024 auf die Zielgerade, denn ab 18. November geht die Dauerausstellung in die Winterpause. Damit endet auch die integrierte Sonderschau zum Jubiläum 125 Jahre Automobilbau bei Opel.
Die Sonderausstellung „Ferrari – Meisterstücke für Rennstrecke und Straße“ sowie Gastronomie und Shop bleiben ganzjährig Mittwoch bis Sonntag geöffnet.
Trotz Schließung sind Führungen oder Events in der Dauerausstellung auf Anfrage an info@nationalesautomuseum.de möglich.
Darüber hinaus finden vom 25. bis 30. Dezember jeweils um 14:00 und um 16:00 Uhr offene Führungen durch das gesamte Museum (Dauerausstellung und Sonderausstellung) statt, an denen auch Einzelpersonen teilnehmen können. Die Tickets sind online oder vor Ort für 38 Euro pro Person buchbar, die Teilnehmerzahl ist limitiert.
431 km/h. Exakt diesen Topspeed erreichte der Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport am 26. Juni 2010 auf dem Volkswagen-Testgelände Ehra-Lessien. Der Wert markierte einen neuen Geschwindigkeitsrekord für straßenzugelassene Serienfahrzeuge. Auch 14 Jahre später hat die Bestmarke noch immer Bestand. Beim Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport handelte es sich um die verschärfte Variante des 16-Zylinder-Überautos Veyron, mit der Bugatti 2005 den Sportwagenbau auf ein neues Niveau gehoben hatte. Wichtigster Unterschied: Statt „nur“ 1.001 PS leistete der Motor 1.200 PS. Möglich machten dies vier größere Turbolader samt voluminöserer Ladeluftkühler. Hinzu kamen ein überarbeitetes Fahrwerk, eine nochmals versteifte Karbon-Karosserie und eine optimierte Aerodynamik. Preis: stolze 1,65 Millionen Euro netto. Wer von den betuchten Käufern es den Testfahrern gleichtun und auf Weltrekordtempo beschleunigen wollte, hatte allerdings Pech, denn mit Rücksicht auf die Reifen stoppte in der zivilen Version des Super Sport die Elektronik bei 415 km/h den Vorwärtsdrang. Für den Ritt über die 430-km/h-Grenze hatte Bugatti speziell angefertigte Gummis aufgezogen. Gerade einmal 48 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport verließen ab 2010 die Fabrik im elsässischen Dorlisheim, einer davon befindet sich im Besitz des Nationalen Automuseums.

Cult car tuner Sidney Hoffmann films at the museum
The car influencer, presenter, and cult tuner Sidney Hoffmann (“Die PS-Profis”) was filming at Nationales Automuseum. From 17 to 19 October 2024, Hoffmann, originally from Dortmund but who now residing in East Frisia, filmed at the Loh Collection for his new YouTube podcast “Sidneys Autocheck und Ferry.” He also gave visitors autographs, fulfilled requests for photos, and was available to chat about cars and tuning. Since its opening, Sidney Hoffmann has maintained a friendly relationship with the Nationales Automuseum. For example, he loaned the Loh Collection his RWB Porsche “Furusato”, which features a distinctive wide-body kit. This tuned vehicle is located in the public area of the museum and can be admired without any admission fee. Matching model cars and posters are available in the museum shop.
Nationales Automuseum at the Oslo Motor Show
At this year’s Oslo Motor Show, the Nationales Automuseum presented two historic endurance racing cars: a Porsche 956 and a Mercedes-Benz CLR from the Loh Collection. The Porsche 956 on display is one of the most successful vehicles of the model series ever produced. Factory Porsche driver Stefan Bellof won the FIA World Endurance Championship with it in 1984, and helped Porsche secure the manufacturer’s title in the same year. The Mercedes-Benz CLR was the brand’s hope at the 1999 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, after several spectacular accidents involving its sister cars, the remaining car was withdrawn from the race and later found its way into the Loh Collection. The Oslo Motor Show takes place annually. This year it attracted almost 57,000 visitors, more than one percent of the Norwegian population. The aim of the show is to bring together the most spectacular and interesting cars, custom bikes and trucks from all over Scandinavia, complemented by vehicle highlights from all over Europe.
The second season of the Automuseum is entering its final stretch
The Nationales Automuseum is approaching the end of 2024, as the permanent exhibition will go into its winter break on 18 November. This also marks the conclusion of the integrated special exhibition celebrating Opel’s 125th anniversary of automobile manufacturing.
The special exhibition “Ferrari – Masterpieces for the Racetrack and Road”, along with the restaurant and the shop, will remain open from Wednesday to Sunday all year round.
Despite the museum being closed, guided tours or events in the permanent exhibition can be arranged upon request at info@nationalesautomuseum.de.
Additionally, open tours of the entire museum (including both the permanent and special exhibitions) will be held from 25 to 30 December at 14:00 and 16:00, which individuals can also participate in. Tickets can be booked online or at the museum for €38 per person; please note that the number of participants is limited.
From the collection: Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport
The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport reached a top speed of 431 km/h (268 mph) on 26 June 2010 at Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessien test site. It marked a new speed record for production vehicles approved for road use, and the record still stands 14 years later. The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport was the enhanced version of the original Veyron 16-cylinder supercar, with Bugatti taking sports car construction to a new level in 2005. The most significant difference was that instead of “only” 987.31 BHP, the engine produced an impressive 1.18 BHP. This was achieved using four larger exhaust-gas turbochargers and a more voluminous intercooler. Additionally, the vehicle featured a revised chassis, a more rigid carbon body, and improved aerodynamics. The price was a notable €1.65 million net. However, the well-heeled buyers who wanted to emulate the test drivers and accelerate to world record speeds were out of luck, as the electronics in the road version of the Super Sport limited forward thrust at 415 km/h (258 mph) to protect the tyres. Bugatti had fitted specially manufactured tyres for achieving speeds over the 430 km/h (268 mph) limit. Only 48 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sports were produced at the factory in Dorlisheim, Alsace, after 2010. One of these is owned by the Nationales Automuseum.
